The Freedom Paradox: Why Chasing Your Dream Isn’t the Only Path to Fulfillment
Free Woman: Freedom Paradox
The “Modern Woman’s” Dilemma: Do We Really Have to Choose?
For years, women have been told that we can “have it all”—a thriving career, financial independence, love, and personal fulfillment. But in chasing this ideal, many of us have found ourselves asking: What does ‘having it all’ even mean?
I’ve spoken to women who are fulfilled in their marriages and relationships, and I’ve also spoken to women who feel torn—like committing to a relationship might mean sacrificing their dreams. Then there are the ambitious ones, the entrepreneurs, the women who are chasing their goals and feel like they should love the hustle, but deep down, they’re questioning whether this version of success is even making them happy.
The truth? We don’t need to choose between relationships and success, but we do need to redefine what success actually means for us.
The Illusion of Entrepreneurship as the Ultimate Freedom
There’s a loud message in today’s world: Entrepreneurship is the only true path to freedom. But that isn’t entirely true.
When I started my own company and later founded Limitless Her, I began a journey of networking and meeting people who I would never have normally met in my general work setting. I met founders, business owners, investors—people who were living a whole parallel life to what I was used to in my usual circle.
And it really opened my eyes. We often aspire to certain lifestyles without fully understanding the different mindsets and circumstances that shape them. Some people start with access to wealth, some happen to be in the right place at the right time, and some make bold, unconventional choices.
I once believed that if I just followed my passion and worked hard enough, I would succeed. But business isn’t just about passion—it’s about:
✔️ Market demand (Are people actually willing to pay for this?)
✔️ Positioning (Am I in the right place at the right time?)
✔️ Sustainability (Can this business support my lifestyle?)
The harsh truth is that not every business works, no matter how passionate you are. Sometimes it’s about timing. Sometimes it’s about opportunity. And sometimes, it just doesn’t align.
But what happens when it doesn’t work? Should we feel like we’ve lost our freedom? That we’ve failed?
No. Because real freedom isn’t about choosing a specific path—it’s about knowing you can pivot without guilt.
For some women, entrepreneurship is the dream. For others, a stable career gives them the life they want. The mistake is in believing that only one path is valid.
Does Being in a Relationship Mean Losing Your Freedom?
Another common fear women have is that relationships will take something away from them.
There’s this narrative that women who get married or commit to long-term relationships “lose themselves.” And let’s be real—historically, that was true. Women were often expected to set aside their ambitions, dreams, and desires to support their partners.
But today, relationships don’t have to work that way. In fact, the right relationship can expand your freedom, not limit it.
The problem is not relationships themselves—it’s the way we perceive them.
If we see relationships as something that requires us to shrink, they will feel suffocating. If we see them as partnerships where both people thrive, they become a source of empowerment.
The key is choosing wisely and creating a relationship dynamic where both people encourage each other’s growth.
The Middle Path: Success Isn’t One-Dimensional
So where does this leave us? If entrepreneurship isn’t the only path to freedom, and if relationships don’t have to take away from our dreams, what’s the answer?
👉 Success isn’t one-size-fits-all.
👉 It’s not about what you’re “supposed” to do—it’s about what aligns with YOU.
For some, that means running a business. For others, it means excelling in a career. For others, it means prioritising love and relationships.
And for many women, it’s a mix of all of these things—but at different stages of life.
When we stop thinking in absolutes, we give ourselves permission to design our own version of success.
